O-O {Castling is a nice invention for orthodox Chess, where it brings the King safely in a corner without trapping the Rook. But in Sac Chess, with so many pieces that can jump like a Knight, hiding behind a single row of Pawns is wowfully inadequate. With an extra line of pieces in front of it the King would be much safer on g1, even though that is still far from the corner. The Amazon originally there can jump out first, and the Rook won't be trapped, but can develop to f2. The Sailor can then be positioned on i2 for protecting the Pawn shield and additional control of the 2nd rank. Archbishop, Chancellor and Judge then have no problem developing (via g2, h2 and h1), and in the mean time provide a solid wall of defenders.} O-O {Of course both players have painted themselves in a corner by blocking the exit path of the Amazon with a Bishop. Black could still follow up the castling with Si9, Kh10, Ch9 or Ki9, Ch9, Kj10, Si9, Jh10, though. In variants with so many super pieces tempos spent on organizing your King's defense are far from wasted.} 8. Bg5 Nce8 9. Md2 Ki9 10. Ki2 Nh9 {Apparently to protect j7, but using a Knight just behind the pawn shield for defending it is a bad idea. Because the Knight doesn't protect any adjacent Pawns, and even blocks sliders that would have protected those. On h10 or i10 a Knight could be a useful defender, as it protects two Pawns, and doesn't block slider protection of the pawn shield from the 10th rank. A much better plan would have been Ch9, creating breathing space for the King.} 11. Jb4 Nf6 12. Mf4 g7 13. Ng6 Mg8 14. Qe5 d6 15. Qb5 Be8 16. Bc6 Mff9 17. Zgf3 b7 18.
