    Rule reminder

Pawns and Princes can make a (non-capturing) double forward step on any rank, and can always be captured en passant on the square they pass through by an opponent Pawn.

Pawns, Princes or Trolls reaching the furthest rank automatically promote to Sabre-Tooth. A Troll can only promote with its pawn-like moves, though.

A Ship reaching furthest rank automatically promotes to Eagle

A Snake reaching furthest rank automatically promotes to Rhinoceros

There is no castling, but an unmoved King that is not in check is allowed to make a double King move, even if that jumps over an occupied square, as long as that square is not attacked by the opponent.

    Checkmating

The Hawk, Snake and Rhinoceros cannot force checkmate on a bare king. A Prince can force such a checkmate, but it would be faster to promote it and checkmate with the resulting Sabre-Tooth. You can practice checkmating with the other pieces on the 13x13 board here.
